Statistics based on the fishermen's catchreports 2002 - 2004

From the statistics below it is most interesting to see that the number of + 35 cm fishes are growing. In the year 1999, the year before we started Gjerfloen Flyfishing, testfishing showed that only 10 % of the graylings were + 35 cm. And now, in 2004 the percentage is 34!

Report 16th of June. Stable and perfect waterflow for fishing the last few days, but strong and cold wind from the north has made the conditions difficult. For the weekend some rain are predicted and that might not be to bad if we get less wind.

Report 15th of June. No reports from the powerstation today. The waterlevel is sinking and I guess that the flow is about 53 m3/s. Fishermen on Gjerfloen yesterday (see the photogallery page)

Report 13th of June. 56 m3/s also today. Nice brown trout caught on dry fly at Landsjøen on Friday. 57 cm, 1,9 kg. (Picture below). Nice brown trout tagget at Sagnfossen Powerstation today, 53 cm 1,28 kg (See photogallery)

Report 10th of June. Flow down to 56 m3/s this morning. Perfect conditions for flyfishing in the streamy parts of the river. Lots of hatching are reported from the river. The Vulgata hatching has started at Landsjøen and the brown trouts were very activ after noon today.

Report 8th of June. Some rain yesterday brought the waterflow up to 61 m3/s this morning. Testfishing today showed that the graylings were very willing to take both dryflies and nymphs.

Report 7th of June. Waterflow down to 60 m3/s this morning. Some rain today will fresh up the water and make the already good fishing conditions even better.

Report 6th of June. Waterflow down to 64 m3/s this morning. Last year we had the same waterflow as late as the 7th of September! So low water this early in the season is absolutely abnormal, but it makes perfect conditions for flyfishing. I was discussing this matter the other day with an old man, living all his 92 years on the bank of this river. He had never ever seen such a low water in the beginning of June! It might perhaps also be of interest that at Plassen we have had only 13.3 mm of rain since 1st of May!

Report 4th of June. Flow down to 65 m3/s this morning. Nice weather and extremely good fishing conditions at the moment!

Report 2nd of June. Flow down to 69 m3/s. Perfect fishing conditions!

Report 31st of May. Flow down to 70 m3/s this morning. Watertemp. 10,5 C degrees. Very good fishing conditions.

Report 30th of May. Flow down to 71 m3/s this morning. This is a extremely low flow so early in the season, but it is perfect for the fish and for the fishermen. The graylings have been rising in large numbers the last couple of days, but no fishermen have been observed (this phenomena might also be an advantage for the fish...)

Report 29th of May. The flow down to 78 m3/s this morning. Nice weather and very good flyfishing conditions. Afternoon and early evening are the best periods for fishing at the moment.

Report 28th of May. Waterflow down to 80 m3/s and watertemp. 9 C degrees this morning. Nice weather and rising watertemp is predicted the days ahead. These facts indicates perfect conditions for flyfishing this weekend.

Report 27th of May. Waterflow down 5 m3/s to 85 m3/s this morning. The sun is shining again and flyfishing conditions are very good! Some good graylings showed their backfinns before noon today.

Report 26th of May. The first graylings are obsreved rising at Plassen! Even if we have had cold weather for a long period now there has been some hatching. Warmer weather are predicted from now on and I'm sure that those who have the opportunity to present their dryflies here the comming weekend will go home with some wonderful memories. The waterflow today is 90 m3/s, the same level we had in the beginning of of July last year. This means that most of the hotspots are wadeable.

Report 16th of May. The waterlevel is going rapidly down. The waterflow in the Trysil river is at the moment less than 150 m3/s. This level is what is normal about the 10th of June. If we get some more sun now, we might see the backfinns of the first graylings about the 20th of May. This is 3 weeks earlier than normal. Reports will be comming.

Report 2nd of May. We have had a very early spring again this year. I shall not be astonished if the first graylings show their backfin as early as the 25th of May (Normally we see the first rings on the water between the 5th and the 10th of June). It might as well be that we get a June like the year 2002, the hatching of the different insects appeared nearly two weeks before normal. Info will come on this website.
